What is Kappa Kappa Psi?
Kappa Kappa Psi is a national and honorary band fraternity dedicated to the task of assisting the university band program, whether it's through service to the bands or by demonstrating excellent musicianship and leadership on the field. On a national level, the fraternity is made up of over 200 chapters comprising 5,000 members annually! Founded in 1919 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Kappa Kappa Psi has become a hallmark of unique and talented musicians that always "strive for the highest" and continue to show that "it is an honor to be selected to serve".
Service is Kappa Kappa Psi's middle name. A major component of the fraternity is the incredible amount of service we put into helping the band and the surrounding community. The Lambda Delta chapter has participated in a number of different service opportunities over the years. We have done things like adopt-a-highway, organizing our band room, cleaning out instrument lockers, and cleaning shakos; because what marching band wants dirty shakos?! We have also connected with a high school not too far from Shippensburg University and rearranged their music library!
